Should i have my baby baptised

Instead of a baptism or religious ceremony, why not have a blessing ceremony or ritual? I've been doing some research online, and there are many meaningful ways to celebrate the birth of a child aside from a religious ceremony you do not believe in. This way the ceremony won't feel "hollow" to you.

Feel proud that your child will grow up exposed to many philosophies and ideas and will be more open-minded because of it. My husband and I went through a similar situation. He is Roman Catholic and I'm a Quaker they don't believe in baptism. His church refused to baptize our child unless I was a comfirmed catholic and I'm not. After researching into it a little more my husband also decided that baptism was a bad choice for us.

Our reasons? It only mentions the baptism of believers. My father baptized me catholic and I hated him for it. The only way I got away from the church was to openly contest my baptism in the church, which didn't go over well 3 Catholic creed says that in order to get into heaven you HAVE to be baptized. We didn't want our child to think that God only loved certain people 4 It went VERY much against my religion Quakers are practically the exact opposite of catholic 5 My husband and I both decided to share all kinds of religions with our child rather than just one He was raised purely catholic and his mother didn't give him the choice of religion.

Because of all that he has been taught he only stays catholic because he thinks he is damned to hell if he leaves the church 6 We had a family member who was Roman Catholic tell us that our daughter was damned to pergatory because we didn't care enough about her to baptize her. We personaly believe that if an infant cannot get into heaven as pure as God made them than there is no hope for the rest of us; so whats the point anyway?

To purify that sin. However, the bible says that no child will carry the sins of their ancestors and no parent will carry the sins of their children. So in our opinion "original sin" is null and void. I just want to point out again that these were the reasons that WE didn't baptize our daughter. I'm not saying you should or you shouldn't and I'm not trying to tear down the catholic church. I will say that I very much disagree with the way the church does things but I am not out to destroy it.

Many good people come from the church and bad people do too. That is the same with my church. Nixon was a Quaker so what does that say about us, right? I'm sorry if I offened anyone, that was not my intention. Whether you are in the catholic church, atheist, or any other religion I admire you for believing and having faith in something.

Did you know that each month has a traditional Catholic devotion? Make yourself notes, write it on your calendar, and pray a specific Called to Conversion We are all called to conversion. This was a fundamental part of the proclamation of the kingdom of God and the Gospel. John R. Not because they tell us that dragons are real, but because they tell us that dragons can be defeated.

But I do want to give a note here that I cover some very gritty realities of miscarriage in the following article, especially discussing burial Becky Roach lives in Ohio with her husband and six children. She began searching for God after she had a transcendent experience with the birth of her first baby. After a long and well researched journey, she decided to become Catholic. In a post on her blog titled An Indelible Mark , she reflects on how she believes that her baptism was one of the reasons for her eventual and full conversion to God.

Yet, even after a discussion of the hopes we have for our children and the grace of baptism, my student still felt that her son should at least know more about God and have a better understanding of the faith before being baptized as a follower.

The understanding is that baptism is a rebirth. By the spiritual cleansing of water and imparting of the Holy Spirit in baptism, one is reborn. This rebirth is required to both see and enter Heaven. These are the top three reasons why I chose to baptize my son this weekend and why I baptized my daughter when she was just five months old. A couple months after my student completed her sacraments to become a full member of the Catholic church, I saw her in the vestibule at church.

She came over to me and told me that she was baptizing her son that day! With my son, when he was first born, I had the urge to immediately bathe him and swaddle him. However, the new hospital procedure was to wait an hour before bathing a newborn. It was a long hour but I was happy when he was finally clean and comfortable. And I think we do that, in part at least, because we've spent the last twenty years hearing that all beliefs are relative, that truth is in the eye of the beholder, and that it isn't our place to judge what someone else says they believe.

So when we get a chance to say that we truly believe in Christianity, we are reluctant to do so because we've violating what has now become a social taboo by putting a claim out there that necessarily calls into question the beliefs and world-views of those who aren't Christian. But if there is anything that the horrific events from the Middle East in the last six months have done it must be that ISIS et al.

They're not. At the extremes, at least, the whole idea of moral relativism is just unsustainable in light of what we see and read all too often these days.

Does that mean I am suggesting that we all begin hounding others with our views?
